YOKOHAMA, Japan: As part of an agreement to encourage future community development in Japan, a test run of Nissan Mobility Services has commenced.

The new agreement among three local authorities and eight corporations in the Hamadori region of Fukushima Prefecture. There is a focus on developing new forms of transportation and endorse the use of renewables. The overall objective is to help to develop a low-carbon society that is revitalized, sustainable and resilient. 

The involvement of Nissan in the project in part includes its vision to enrich the lives of people and its worldwide drive to create carbon neutrality by 2050.

The operation assessments reported earlier today are designed to evaluate acceptance among citizens and community visitors. The tests include the implementation of an EV shuttle program.  It runs at a high frequency in a circuit all-around the city center of Namie town.

It will be using roadside centers as hubs for mobility. The hubs are connected to other cars that serve as “spokes” which are used for trips to nearby areas. It will also include private cars. 

Freight and passenger transportation are both supported by the system. It involves delivery service of packages utilizing “spoke” vehicles such as EV cabs. It will also be used for efficient & quick delivery of Japan Postal service vehicles

The service will also be used for the pickup of supermarket purchases from roadside locations. The evaluations also include the operation on a trial. It will be around central Namie using a completely autonomous vehicle. 

The future plan is to develop self-sustaining transport services. It will benefit the economy and provide convenience.


Management of Sustainable Renewable Energy :

The partnership proposal involves creating a smart system for managing that uses rechargeable stationary batteries. This will also be used to charge electric vehicles to support building a sustainable community. This will make it a low-carbon society. It is also intended to improve the further use of renewable energy at different facilities. 

The companies involved will be using their know-how to sustain tourism and revitalization projects. It is intended to create a much more appealing local community.

Using electric cars to supply power at shops as well as other sites during disasters. They plan to collaborate to make the community quite resilient.


Environment and Social Value Creation :

Nissan has worked to reduce CO2 emissions and generate environmental as well as social value. It is doing this through both the commercializing of electrification and also autonomous vehicle technologies. This is because Nissan is a trailblazer of zero-emission vehicles. 

The Blue Switch program of the company helps promote the use of EV’s to address the following. Disaster preparedness, climate change, energy management. It also addresses issues pertaining to a decrease in population in Japan.

Overseas, in places like London and China, Nissan has been involved in the R&D of electric mobility using autonomous vehicle technology. 

Nissan aims to help realize a sustainable society in which people can move and interact freely, by utilizing its unique qualities in electrification and autonomous vehicle technologies.
